A few things you might like to know about the Principal and Vice-Principal

Robert Shields

 (Born May 14th, 1936 in the North East of England, UK).    

Founder of  New Life’ Courses (Est. 1986) and The Robert Shields College he is a professional and experienced Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist (qualified in 1979) who has treated a wide range of psychological problems during the many years he has been in practice.

A practitioner of various forms of Alternative Medicine, and other related subjects, he has also trained well over one hundred and fifty Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists on the live courses he ran and as at June, 2009, 1840 through the course he provides on the Internet, all as ethical and professional practitioners.  

He has also been an active therapist and counsellor for more years than he wishes to recall, using his developed psychic and intuitive abilities and spiritual healing.   He has taught this aspect of his life through his courses where his motto has, and will always be, 'to do effective psychic work, you MUST keep your feet on the ground and avoid having your ego take over'.    

As a result there are literally hundreds of good mediums and healers in the United Kingdom who are working ethically and for the benefit of their clients, not themselves.

Subliminal Pioneer

He is the pioneer in the use of subliminals.    Hidden beneficial messages that flash on a video screen so quickly that they are accepted by the Unconscious Mind without censorship.    Note - Subliminals are illegal when used for advertising, but not when used for therapeutic purposes.    His idea, which was developed in 1983 and used in his pioneering Video Therapy Tapes (see below), has been copied by therapists all over the world on their audio and video tapes.   An American Hypnotherapist claims to be the first to use my techniques on his videos, but he, mysteriously, did not bring his out until one year after Robert's first one (We won't mention his name here as it is hardly worth getting a sweat over.)

Video Producer

In 1983 he produced three videos: ‘Coping With Stress’, ‘Videoslim (To Lose Weight)’ and ‘Stop Smoking’ which, unfortunately have now reached their 'sell by dates'. His Lose Weight and Stop Smoking videos were translated into Dutch, Greek and Portuguese by those country’s leading Hypnotherapy organizations and his Coping With Stress video was, and may possibly still be, used by both medical and educational establishments throughout the country.  

The Stop Smoking tape was the Number 1 best seller with a Los Angeles video business during 1987.  

These videos would still as effective now as they were all years ago but are now no longer being sold.    

A large percentage of public libraries in the United Kingdom stocked his video tapes for many years and some still do.

The Master 1" copies of the three videos are still kept, but mainly for sentimental reasons.    

Alternative Medicine Magazine Editor

Robert was also the editor of the first ever magazine published on Alternative Medicine when he edited the first six issues of The Association of Natural Medicine’s in-house journal ‘Natural Medicine’. It was published as an A4 glossy magazine and had an original launch run of over two thousand copies. Many of the articles and features were written by Robert himself as it was so difficult to get good quality articles from alternative practitioners at that time..

Course Tutor and Radio Presenter

He has run small and therefore successful courses and workshops in Denmark and the United Kingdom since 1986 and was once invited to lecture in Moscow (sadly declined due to the political climate at the time).  He stopped running those course when he 'retired' (that word is a joke in the family as Robert will never retire completely).

He has also appeared as a guest on a number of radio stations, including BBC Essex, BBC Kent, Southern Counties Radio, London's Liberty Radio, Radio Lotus (Copenhagen) and had his own show ‘An Hour of the Unexplained’ on cable Radio Basildon (sadly now closed down).  

Television Personality

During the shooting of Anglia Television's 'Magic and Mystery Show', Robert, as a member of the audience, was recognized by the presenter Eamon Holmes, and asked to do an impromptu Past-Life Regression with a member of the audience as an extra to the shooting of the programme.  The Director and producer were so impressed, they decided to broadcast Robert's contribution and it was given star billing. As a result, he was invited back to do a second show.

He has also appeared on Harlech Television's 'Something Strange', again demonstrating Past-Life Regression and Carlton Television's magazine program 'Capital Woman' discussing his part in helping the police with their Yorkshire Ripper investigations.  Accompanied by a past client who had her 15 year phobia removed in less than ten minutes, he also discussed his revolutionary Fear Elimination Therapy on cable television's 'Live TV'.

Sadly, due to a very traumatic marriage break-up, Robert stopped working for a number of years, but happily in 1995, he met and married his present wife, Nora.    As a result of his first marriage break-up, Robert lost site of his life's goal to help others and his work stopped for almost three years.    However, having met his now lovely wife Nora, his interest  in life was renewed and he has now resumed his life's commitment to helping as many people as possible to improve the quality of their lives through self-improvement and study.

Nora Shields (nee Garcia)

(Born in The Philippines on June 12th, 1960 in Villasis in the province of Pangasinan)

In order to support her parents and family, she left her beloved Philippines to work in Saudi Arabia and eventually moved to England.   This is where she met her husband,  and now both Nora and Robert are looking forward to a long and happy relationship, both as husband and wife and business partners..

During her early years, she was involved with healing in the Philippines and was known as the 'Eye Doctor'.    Many people from all over the Philippines would travel to see her for treatment with her 'magic water' to cure a wide range of eye complaints.   

Her techniques and knowledge were handed down by a very old healer she met whilst visiting a friend in the Northern Provinces (jungle region).  They hit it off so well that the old lady asked her to stay and she taught Nora all she knew about healing eye complaints.    Part of the process was to use pure water from a specially 'blessed and prepared'  bowl which, when used to clean the eyes, produced amazing cures.

However, her decision to stay had its downside.   During her time with the old lady, the village where they lived was visited by jungle terrorists and she was recruited into their Army against her will.    It was only after a daring escape was she able to rejoin her family in her own village.

Robert jokes that the terrorists had a lucky escape (smile).

Unfortunately, all of her healing work was done for very little or no payment and the needs of her family had to be given priority with the result she had to give up her healing practice to earn enough to support her family.

We hope that, one day, she will reveal the secrets she learnt and put them into a course for those students interested in curing eye complaints.
